The laka is a bug found in abundance on the planet Arnessk that first appears in the Farscape episode "Sacrifice." Its guts contain a powerful sedative. In the words of Noranti, "Squeeze the joozmeze out of it, and stick it up your nose. You'll get a jolt, wham! And for 500 microts, nothing bothers you."
John Crichton uses the laka to protect himself from Grayza's Heppel oil. Later, at the end of "John Quixote," Noranti provides Crichton with a distillate of laka to help him forget about the pain caused by Aeryn. Crichton finally gives up the laka when the two make up in "Twice Shy."
