Lauren Bacall

Lauren Bacall (1924-2014) was a legendary actress, best known for film noir movies such as The Big Sleep (opposite husband Humphrey Bogart), stage appearances, and recent television work in such series as The Sopranos.

Bacall appeared in an early episode of Sesame Street, reading to the Kids.[1]

She later contributed a "Spinach and Sesame Salad" recipe for Miss Piggy's 1996 cookbook, In the Kitchen with Miss Piggy.

  • In the "Beauty" chapter of Miss Piggy's Guide to Life, she discusses how conventionally pretty faces like any Miss America winner cannot be called to mind as images, "But now try to picture Lauren Bacall. Or Katharine Hepburn. Or moi. You see? I rest my case."
  • In Sesame Street Unpaved, it's pointed out that Herry Monster shares his astrological sign, Virgo, with Lauren Bacall ("If you need me, just whistle. You know how to whistle, don't you, Herry?", quoting from the same scene of To Have and Have Not).
