Le Reveil de Mordicus (The Awakening of Mordicus) is the first Rue Sésame single-and-booklet. The material from this album was also featured on side B of the second Rue Sésame LP, Vive... La Rue Sésame.
This book and single for 1, Rue Sésame, the French co-production of Sesame Street, was produced by Adès in 1978. It belonged to the series Le Petit Menestrel. The cover illustration is by Nadine Forster, who also illustrated two Sésame storybooks.
In this story, Toccata wants to take the bus with Mordicus to go into town, but can't wake him up. He decides to go around the street and collect all of the alarm clocks, so he can ring them all of them at once. First, he visits the grocery where Maxime gives him his alarm clock and a pineapple. Toccata then gives the pineapple to Clémence and visits Roger repairing Odile's refrigerator. He gives Roger Clémence's clock to fix, and Odile gives Toccata her own alarm clock to help him tell the time. With all the alarm clocks collected, Toccata then has all the kids help him ring them at once. Everyone else is startled, but Mordicus is still asleep. Maxime manages to wake him up with his scooter bell and the smell of apples, and Mordicus reveals that it's his stomach that helps wake him up, not his ears. However, he ends up eating so many apples that he and Toccata end up missing the bus going to town. Toccata is upset, but everyone comforts him, with Mordicus reassuring him that he'll have a lighter dinner next time.
