PERFORMER | Jerry Nelson |
DEBUT | 1997 |
Leo Birdelli is a bird art collector featured in Sesame Street Episode 3611. Birdelli offers Big Bird one-hundred bags of birdseed in exchange for Mr. Hooper's picture. Big Bird refuses, explaining that it was hard enough saying goodbye to Mr. Hooper once, and he couldn't say goodbye again.
The bird puppet used was previously seen as a member of the Board of Birds in Follow That Bird and resurfaced in Sesame Street Jam. In these previous performances he was respectively performed by Martin P. Robinson and Jim Kroupa. He would also be used as the bass player in Hoots' band The Owl-Stars, where his performers included Robinson (Episode 2834), David Rudman (Episode 2571), and Peter Linz (Episode 3110). Later on, he reappeared in Episode 4512 as one of the assistant judges of the Supreme Bird Court (named in the script as Samuel Webbedfeeto and played by Eric Jacobson) and as a mail carrier in the "A Furchester Christmas" episode of The Furchester Hotel (performed here by Ryan Dillon). He also appears in The Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo and Elmo's Mindfulness Spectacular as an audience member.
