Light in the Night is a series of events held in Chicago, Illinois, to ensure there are safe, public spaces for communities to gather.
On June 28, 2019, Cookie Monster attended a Light in the Night event during his visit to Chicago as part of the Sesame Street Road Trip. He spoke with Vaughn Bryant, program director for Communities Partnering 4 Peace (one of the organizers of Light in the Night), and sang "C is for Cookie." Cookie Monster later went around to interact with attendees.
Others in attendance were Illinois governor JB Pritzker and Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot, both of whom declared the day "Sesame Street Day,"[1] and Jeanette Betancourt. An Elmo walk-around was also present.
