Lillian Hoban

Lillian Hoban (1925-1998) was an author and illustrator best known for her work on children's books.

Although she attended the Philadelphia Museum School of Art, she did not begin a career as an artist right away, first teaching modern dance and dancing professionally until she collaborated with author and husband Russell Hoban in the 1960s.

She illustrated the 1971 book Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas, her work serving as the visual basis for the Jim Henson television special of the same name in 1977.

She also illustrated Will I Have a Friend? by Miriam Cohen, which was read by Susan on Sesame Street in Episode 0079, as well as five of the six Frances books which were adapted for television by the Jim Henson Company.
