Lillias White (b. July 21, 1951) played Lillian Edwards on Sesame Street from 1989 through 1993 and voiced the lead singer of the Squirrelles. She received a Daytime Emmy Award for the role in 1992. She provided backing vocals for the song "Part of the Whole."

White is best known for her work as a Broadway actress, portraying Miss Jones in the revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (with Matthew Broderick, Jonathan Freeman, Megan Mullally, and the voice of Walter Cronkite); Sonja in The Life, for which she won a Tony Award; Effie in a concert version of Dreamgirls; and substituted as Grizabella in Cats. Her film roles include the voice of the lead Muse in Disney's animated feature Hercules and a small part in How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Television credits include guest roles on Law & Order and NYPD Blue. She is also a prominent house-music singer and has worked extensively with producer George Morel.

White returned to Sesame Street in Season 37, appearing in episode 4112 as Miss Walsh, Gabi’s and Miles's kindergarten teacher, in a flashback sequence. In 2006, she performed at the Annual Sesame Workshop Benefit Gala.[1]
