Lillias White as Lillian

Lillias White (b. July 21, 1951) played Lillian Edwards on Sesame Street from 1989 through 1993 and voiced the lead singer of The Squirrelles. She received a Daytime Emmy Award for the role in 1992.

Lillias White is best known for her work as a Broadway actress, portraying Miss Jones in the revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying; Sonja in The Life, for which she won a Tony Award; Effie in a concert version of Dreamgirls; and substituted as Grizabella in Cats. Her film roles include the voice of the lead Muse in Disney's animated feature Hercules and a small part in How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Television credits include guest roles on Law & Order and NYPD Blue. She is also a prominent house-music singer and has worked extensively with producer George Morel.

White returned to Sesame Street in Season 37, appearing in episode 4112 as Miss Walsh, Gabiโ€™s and Miles's kindergarten teacher, in a flashback sequence.
