Lions Gate Entertainment (styled as Lionsgate) is a smaller Hollywood studio that distributes theatrical films as well as taking on home video distribution for many independent companies.
On August 10, 2009, Lionsgate secured into a multi-year home entertainment distribution agreement with The Jim Henson Company to secure North American distribution rights to more than 350 hours of content from the Jim Henson Company catalogue. The first releases under the new deal were Fraggle Rock: The Complete Final Season and A Merry Fraggle Holiday in November of that year.[1] Prior to this date, Henson's previous home entertainment distributor HIT Entertainment had already secured a North American distribution deal with Lionsgate in March 2008, with the last batch of Henson content released under HIT's five-year agreement being distributed through Lionsgate in those territories[2], such as Fraggle Rock: Complete Series Collection.[3]
