"Little Brown Jug" is a drinking song by Joseph Winner. Known as a folk song during the early 20th century, it gained new popularity during the Prohibition period.
The Snerfs perform the song in episode 403 of The Muppet Show. By scrunching their bodies up and down, they imitate an accordion and play an instrumental version of the song.
The tune served as the basis for Grover's singing telegrams in two sketches involving him and Mr. Johnson.
In Episode 3096 of Sesame Street, Dr. Sing sings "Do not move your arm" to the tune of the song while putting Telly Monster's arm in a cast.
