Lulu Roman as waitress Lulu, lower right center, looks away from a grouchy special guest star.
Lulu Roman (1946-2025) was an actor best known for her long stint on Hee Haw. She was a regular from the beginning in 1969 to the show's end in 1991 (with a few seasons absences). Roman played the owner of Lulu's Truck Stop in diner sketches, as well as playing in Hee Haw's All-Jug Band (with Minnie Pearl) and other sketch roles. From 1978 to 1979, she co-starred with other Hee Haw alums on the spinoff sitcom Hee Haw Honeys (as Lulu Honey, matriarch of the cornball family who ran a night spot).
During the respective guest appearances by Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch (with Bruno), Roman appeared with other regulars at Slim's Bar-B-Q.
While Roman's contributions to Hee Haw were comedic, she became a singer in her own right partway through the run, specializing in Southern gospel and releasing her first album in 1974. Her 2013 CD At Last included a duet with Dolly Parton.
