Lana Moorer (b. 1971), popularly known as MC Lyte, is a hip-hop artist, actress, and songwriter, known for such singles as "I Cram to Understand U (Sam)" and "10% Dis." For Sesame Street in the early 1990s, she co-wrote the hip-hop song "Body Dance" and performed it in a filmed insert.
As an actress, Lyte had a recurring role as record company owner Kai on the sitcom Half and Half and guest starred on Cousin Skeeter, In the House, and In Living Color. She was also the first host of VH-1’s annual tribute Hip-Hop Honors.
