Makin Whoopee
Music by Walter Donaldson
Lyrics by Gus Kahn
Date 1928
Source Whoopee! (musical)

"Makin’ Whoopee" is a jazz song infamous for its sexual euphemism during a time in which direct references to sex in popular culture were taboo. It has been performed by such notable artists as Doris Day, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Dinah Washington.

Rowlf the Dog sang the song (as a medley with Jimmy Dean singing "The Glory of Love") in the 1964 Valentine's Day episode of The Jimmy Dean Show.

In 1997, Kermit the Frog appeared on a Children in Need charity and "played piano" (with commentary) to a performance of the song by Ulrika Jonsson. Jonsson is sprawled out on the piano during the song, holding no restraint from the suggestive lyrics. The performance ends with a kiss.

On Sesame Street, the song was parodied by Cookie Monster as "Eating Cookie".
