Marc Shaiman (b. 1959) is a composer and lyricist, best known for his work on the Broadway stage and feature films. Shaiman has been nominated for five Academy Awards, and has won a Tony, Emmy and Grammy award. He appeared with the Sesame Street Muppets at the Hollywood Hits Broadway Benefit Gala.
A vocal arranger for Bette Midler early in his career, Shaiman worked on the feature films When Harry Met Sally, City Slickers, The Addams Family, George of the Jungle, In & Out, and South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. On television, Shaiman has worked as a writer on Saturday Night Live, and appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and The Rosie O'Donnell Show. It was Shaiman who played with Midler on Johnny Carson's second to last Tonight Show.
Broadway credits with his partner Scott Wittman include Hairspray, Martin Short's Fame Becomes Me and Catch Me If You Can. Shaiman also composed original music for the 2005 revival of The Odd Couple, and also conducted An Evening with Harry Connick Jr. and his Orchestra.
