Marcello Mastroianni (1924-1996) was a star of Italian cinema who worked several times with Federico Fellini (beginning with 1960s La dolce vita). Often playing variations or subversions of the Latin lover, he was frequently paired with Sophia Loren as in Marriage Italian-Style and Ieri, oggi, domani.
Mastroianni's international projects include Poppies Are Also Flowers (with Omar Sharif), the caper comedy Diamonds for Breakfast (with Bryan Pringle), Leo the Last (with Billie Whitelaw), and as part of the international all-star cast of Robert Altman's Ready to Wear (again with Loren).
