Margaret Ross played for the grouchy singing harp in The Sesame Street Fairy Tale Albun

Margaret Ross (1925-2005) was a harpist, specializing in jazz. She added to the storybook sound of three Sesame Street albums: Sleepytime Bird, The Sesame Street Fairy Tale Album (where she played for Oscar as the singing harp in "Jack and the Beanstalk"), and Big Bird's Birdtime Stories.

On Broadway, Ross played harp on-stage as part of a trio in the 1943 revue Artists and Models. She recorded with Paul Whiteman, Quincy Jones, Carol Hall, Don Sebesky, George Benson, Carly Simon, Luther Vandross, James Brown, Frank Sinatra, Chaka Khan, and Judy Collins. More off-beat assignments included Christmas in the Stars (the Star Wars Christmas album) and Louis Farrakhan's 1980 album Heed The Call Ya'll. She was a session player on the soundtracks to The Wiz, the film version of A Chorus Line, and The Cosby Show.
