"Maria" is a song from the musical West Side Story. The song is performed by Tony in act I, serenading his new love Maria outside her apartment window.

- Due to one of the main humans of Sesame Street being named Maria, many references have been made to the song pertaining to her character:
- Big Bird sings a spoof of the song searching for Maria in the video Big Bird Gets Lost.
- A music sting in Episode 3715 of Sesame Street is based on "Maria" from the musical. Another sting heard in Episode 3766 mimics the tune as well.
- At the beginning of Episode 3792, Zoe gets Maria's attention by briefly singing the song.
- In Episode 3839, when Telly and Rosita call for Maria's help, Bolo the parrot sings a brief part of the song "Maria."
- On Sesamestreet.org, a video playlist about Maria and Luis was advertised as "Luis Met a Girl Named Maria."
