Marie Curie (1867–1934) was a Polish–French physicist–chemist and scientist famous for her pioneering research on radioactivity. A winner of two Peace Prizes and the first and only woman to win in two fields, she discovered two elements, polonium and radium.

- In the Farscape episode "Thank God It's Friday. Again.," John Crichton compares Aeryn Sun to Curie after she saved Rygel's life, saying, "I know, and we're all grateful that you did the Madame Curie thing." He clarifies that Curie was a scientist after realizing Aeryn doesn't know who she is.
