Mario is an Anything Muppet boy, who appeared in several episodes on Sesame Street in Season 16.
Mario was paired twice with an Anything Muppet girl named Crystal, where he frequently comments on how smart she is. The script for Episode 2034 even notes that Mario has a crush on her.[1]
While he mostly appeared during Season 16, Mario made one notable appearance in a Muppet insert produced the next season. He writes a letter to his Aunt Polly when the point of his pencil breaks. Mario finds the pencil useless without its point and leaves it idle while looking for his pencil sharpener. Then, the Two-Headed Monster happens by and explores different uses for the pencil (as a magic wand, a conductor's baton, etc.). (First: Episode 2096)
