Martha Alexander (1920-2006) was a children's author and illustrator. She began in the 1960s, illustrating books by others, and then began writing and illustrating her own titles, with 1967's Babies Are Like That as one of the first. She wrote and illustrated Maybe a Monster (1968), The Story Grandmother Told (1969), and the Blackboard Bear series.
In 1994, Alexander authored A You're Adorable (based on the song) and one of her last publications was illustrating The Little Green Witch (2005).
