Marylouise01

Mary Louise and Friend.

There are two Whatnot characters named Mary Louise on The Muppet Show. One is a little girl who appears in musical numbers, and the other is an older, aggressive woman who mostly appears in At the Dance sketches, overpowering her dance partners.

Little girl

The little girl Mary Louise has two solo numbers on The Muppet Show, both performed alongside frogs. In episode 108, she sings "I'm in Love with a Big Blue Frog," and her number "Never Smile at a Crocodile" is in episode 114.

In episode 208, she auditioned for the show by singing a duet with her friend, who was (not surprisingly) also a frog. After they were rejected, Mary Louise returned to audition twice more, under the names Carrie Louise and Terry Louise. All of these attempts were unsuccessful.

The character was performed by a number of puppeteers, including Rollin Krewson (episode 114) and Louise Gold.

Character

Do you know there's a little old lady sleeping up here? (episode 413)

The older woman Mary Louise is made from the Grump puppet, wearing a wig and a blouse. She first appeared in the At the Dance sketches in episodes 114 and 115, dancing with Gloat in the background.

She was given her name in episode 121, where she danced with Kermit.

In episode 204, she was one of the few people to get the best of Animal. As they're dancing, she says, "Tell me if I'm holdin' ya too tight. I said, tell me if I'm holdin' ya too tight!" She releases him from her grip, and he falls to the floor. "Now ya tell me," she grunts.
