Melrose Place is a prime-time soap opera which ran from 1992 to 1999. Focusing on the young adults who resided in the titular apartment complex, the series' tone shifted with the arrival of Amanda Woodward, played by Heather Locklear, a ruthless businesswoman and scheming vixen as traditional in certain soaps.
The series was loosely connected to Beverly Hills, 90210, with regular character Kelly developing a crush on older laborer Jake Hanson, one of the main Melrose Place residents. The thread began in two 90210 episodes and extended to Melrose when it premiered two months later, resolved by the third episode. Melrose Place had its own spinoff, Models Inc. (anchored by Amanda's mother) and a 2009-2010 revival (tied mostly by setting and recurring visits by Amanda).
