Metal Gear is a video game series developed by Hideo Kojima in the 1980s. The games have branched into other media such as novels, audio dramas, and interest in a feature film starring Oscar Isaac. As a legacy franchise, tropes from the game have found their way into other media, such as the exclamation mark that appears above enemies whenever they spot the main character, as referenced in Wreck-It Ralph.
