Michel Berthier was the French executive producer for 1, Rue Sésame, on behalf of broadcaster TF1. He also wrote the French lyrics for the theme song, received producer credit on the albums, and wrote new material for the album Ernest et Bart Reçoivent Leurs Amis.
Berthier had worked in various television capacities, including writer and assistant director on series such as Les enquêtes du commissaire Maigret. Prior to 1, Rue Sésame, he was a director on the long-running French puppet series L'Île aux Enfants starring the puppet character Casimir.
