Miles and Maynard are a pair of beatnik moles who appear in the Muppet Babies episode "Journey to the Center of the Nursery".
Working as miners, the Babies cross their paths while journeying through the center of the Earth. Fond of musical puns, Miles and Maynard accompany the Babies on Baby Gonzo's subterranean vehicle through song before seeing them on their way.
Later, Miles and Maynard pose as robots when the Babies are being pursued and dig them a tunnel back to the elevator shaft they've been using to get around.
The characters' names and hep dialogue reference jazz musicians Miles Davis and Maynard Ferguson, while Miles' voice is an impression of Wolfman Jack.
