Beastie Boys

Kermit Billboard in Times Square for the "Right Right, Now Now" music video.

  • The Beastie Boys' 2004 song "Ch-Check it Out" contains the lyric "I bring the shit that’s beyond bizarre like Miss Piggy...Who moi?”.
  • Also, in the video for "Right Right, Now Now", which takes place in Times Square, a picture of Kermit the Frog is seen in the background multiple times.
  • In the 2011 song "B-Boys in the Cut," Mike D raps "I'm like Oscar the Grouch, trashy, rockin' Derelicte, flashy."

The Bloodhound Gang

  • In the first verse of the song "Shut Up" off The Bloodhound Gang's 1996 album One Fierce Beer Coaster, frontman Jimmy Pop alludes to The Swedish Chef and his "Børk! Børk! Børk!" catchphrase.

Circus of Dead Squirrels

  • The industrial metal band's 2007 album "Pop Culture Massacre and the End of the World Sing A Long Song Book!" features a track called "Elmo's Last Laugh", with an animated music video on their Youtube channel. (YouTube)

  • The Rap duo's reference heavy debut single "They Want EFX" features the lyrics "I caught a Snuffleupagus and smoked a boogaloo spliff."

Rick Dees

  • In the song, "We Are the Weird", which is a parody of the celebrity famine relief single "We Are the World", one of the celebrity impersonators sings in a Kermit-like voice, "We are the weird, but we're not stupid", and then says, "And we're laughing all the way to the bank! Yaaaaayyyyy!"

Fam-Lay

  • In the song "Rock N Roll" produced by Pharrell Williams, guest rapper Lil' Flip makes several references to Sesame Street, "The only time you saw a bird was on Sesame Street / I got them Big Birds / and I keep them in my pouch / play with my money and I turn into Oscar the Grouch." Note, that in this context by "bird" he means crack cocaine.

The Great Luke Ski

  • The Great Luke Ski wrote a parody of "Who Let The Dogs Out?" by the Baha Men entitled "Who Let the Frog Out?" which is about Kermit the Frog and the Muppets.

Green Day

  • On the back cover of punk rock band Green Day's 1994 major label debut, Dookie, there is a picture of a crowd of people, one of whom holds up an Ernie puppet. The liner notes credit Ernie as being copyright Jim Henson Productions. Ernie was only on early prints of the CD, while airbrushed out on later pressings of the album, possibly to avoid legal action.

Cookie Monster sings a parody version of their song "Basket Case" in the PortAventura live show Sésamo Aventura Talent Show.

Hot Stylz

  • In the third verse of the reference-heavy debut single of "Lookin Boy" by rap group Hot Stylz, guest rapper Young Joc impersonates Elmo's laugh followed by the lyrics "Tickle Me Elmo Lookin Boy."

  • Oscar the Grouch is seen on the cover art for the single "Bring Your Daughter...to the Slaughter" from their 1990 album No Prayer for the Dying.

Lenny Kuhr

  • The song Prince of the Land of Stench takes its name from the film Labyrinth, sampling the line from the film in the intro and amongst the singer's threats in the chorus is to "immerse you into the bog headfirst".

The Oak Ridge Boys

  • The Oak Ridge Boys filmed their music video for "Thank God for Kids" at Texas' Sesame Place. The song also contains the lyrics "We'd all live in a quiet house / Without Big Bird or a Mickey Mouse."

Panic! at the Disco

  • The beginning of the song "Vegas Lights" samples the kids singing numbers from Numerosity.

Reaction Formation

  • This band released a 6-song cassette in 1984 titled "In Memory of Mr. Hooper...", which included a cover version of Sesame Street.

Tony Touch

  • The track "Symphony in H" from the hip-hop DJ's 2013 album The Piece Maker 3: Return of the 50 MC's contains the following line sung by featured artist Eminem: "Love stinks, that explains all this anger that's spillin' out / And I ain't chilling out. Got an Oscar but I'm still a grouch"

Derek Webb

  • In his song "The Spirit Vs. the Kick Drum", Contemporary Christian artist Derek Webb samples Bert's dialogue of "A one, and-a two, and a chick-a-boom-a-chick!" and "Oh, groove with me, baby!" from "Bert's Drum Set".

Young M.A.

The song "Ooouuu" contains the lyrics "Like we ain't in these Streets more than Sesame."

Young Sportsmen

The band Young Sportsmen has a song called "Sesame Street Fightin Man", which starts off with the opening chords to the Sesame Street Theme, performed up tempo with a rock sound.
