The "Minute Waltz" is a classical piece written by Frédéric Chopin in 1847. The piece is known in full as "Waltz in D-flat major, Op. 64, No. 1, Valse du petit chien" ("Waltz of the little dog" in French). Much later, screenwriter Lan O'Kun added new, self-aware lyrics to the piece, which was popularly performed by Barbra Streisand for her 1966 album Color Me Barbara.
Sesame Street's first season featured a lip-synced performance of the Streisand version, as performed by an Anything Muppet who becomes more and more disheveled as the song progresses.
The piece was also performed on the album Elmo and the Orchestra. A piano-playing penguin plays the piece in Episode 3943.
