Moppy's Lucky Spot! is a gift shop and attraction that opened at Universal Studios Japan in fall 2011. It is a re-theme of the Brown Derby gift shop in the Hollywood area, a derby hat-shaped hats and accessories shop which paid tribute to the famous restaurant The Brown Derby. Repainted in various shades of pink, the shop is themed as a celebration of Moppy, the USJ-exclusive Sesame Street character.
The shop sells all kinds of Moppy merchandise, including plush toys, mascots, figures, pens, pillows, candy, postcards, coin purses and more. A "light pillar" at the center of the shop projects images of Moppy on the dome ceiling.
The "Lucky Mirror" attraction is located at the far end of the store. Guests look into a large mirror and rub a "crystal ball", and Moppy gives a percentage score based on how happy the guest looks. (The attraction uses facial-recognition software to determine the guest's score.) The person who gets the highest score by 2pm each day gets to wear Moppy's Lucky Hat, a bright pink top hat with "LUCKY WINNER" in large pink letters. For the rest of the day, the lucky guest doesn't have to wait on any lines.
