Muhammad Ali (born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr., 1942-2016) was an American boxer and an Olympic gold medal winner. Nicknamed "The Greatest", Ali was involved in several historic boxing matches, including those against rivals Joe Frazier and George Foreman. Sports Illustrated called Ali the "Sportsman of the Century".

- The cast and kids play a profession game in Episode 1410 of Sesame Street. At one point David and a kid pretend to be boxers, with David later commenting it was like Muhammad Ali.

- An unidentified talk show appearance features thirty-three minutes into Street Gang: How We Got to Sesame Street during a sequence in which the overnight popularity of Sesame Street is being discussed. Ali speaks to the interviewer about its merits, "I'd advise three-years-old, start watching Sesame Street. I sit up and watch it. You really can learn; it's cute how it's cute the way they put them things together. My little daughter watches it; she's getting so smart. She knows everything about it."
