Famed German toy company Steiff released a Kermit the Frog plush doll, made of mohair. The high-end collectible was released in June 2009, for a suggested retail price of $265.00.
In December 2010, the company released a plush of Fozzie Bear for a suggested retail price of $310.00 (offered on sale for $279.00). He is released as a "2011 North American Limited Edition."

Steiff monkeys in action on Sesame Street.
- Jim Henson briefly demonstrated how to operate a small bear puppet in the 1969 special The Muppets Make Puppets, referring to the company as "Steiff, the people who make the little stuffed dolls, you know."
- Five Steiff monkeys were used in a Sesame Street sketch that has Kermit counting them.
- Altered Steiff dolls were used during the "Munching Forest" fantasy sequence in The Song of the Cloud Forest.
