My Favorite Year is a 1982 comedy film starring Peter O'Toole (who received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor) as an aging, drunken Erroll Flynn-type movie star. The plot focuses on a young writer's attempts to control the star for a guest appearance on a sketch show based on Your Show of Shows (and starring a Sid Caesar stand-in).
The movie was adapted for a short-run 1992 Broadway musical.
