Vincent Twice, nibbling on a roast leg of lamb and a piece of toast, introduces another adventure of Sherlock Hemlock and his trusty companion Watson. Lady Agatha is distraught over the loss of her breakfast toast and her luncheon roast (when she went to get mint jelly for it). While the world's greatest detective is stumped, it's Lady Agatha who points out they are dealing with a rhyme crime, since toast and roast rhyme with each other.
The logical deducation, made by Sherlock Hemlock, is that the thief rhymes with toast and roast, and thus must be a ghost! Watson as usual has been barking to point out another possibility, but Sherlock mistakes her ladyship, under the tablecloth, for the ghost. Watson then grabs Vincent Twice and drags him to the scene. Sherlock is aghast at such treatment of their host, but this time, it really *does* dawn on him independently (if belatedly) that host rhymes with toast and roast. Furthermore, he has the foodstuffs on him. Twice says he missed his lunch. The host refuses to return the eatables, asking the audience to stay tuned until next time, "if there is a next time." (There was not). Sherlock, after a sharp "Shame on you, sir," asks if there's enough food for three and tells Watson not to beg.
