The National Children’s Museum (NCM) in Washington, DC includes a permanent Sesame Street-themed exhibit in its 3 & Under gallery (originally announced as the ("Early Learners gallery"). The space opened in December 2012, ahead of their original 2013 estimate.

History[]

The partnership includes interactive exhibits, educational video segments, and books. Sesame Workshop also helped develop content, exhibits, and programs for the museum's Our World gallery, which focuses on world culture and locations.

In the initial press release in February 2011, Sesame Workshop's Gary Knell referenced admiration for the museum and their outreach programs:

We at Sesame Street have been impressed by the National Children’s Museum’s dedication to evolving the concept of a traditional museum by not just building a world-class museum, but also creating outreach programs that help kids build a better future. We look forward to collaborating on what we believe is going to be a very compelling and exciting family destination and are happy for NCM to be Sesame Street’s new home in the nation’s capital.[1]

Opening in 2012 (ahead of a previously announced 2013 date) at National Harbor, Maryland the National Children’s Museum serves visitors with a new 150,000 square-foot experiential learning center and dynamic online community. The organization was founded in 1974 as the "Capital Children's Museum" and is the only national-designated museum "dedicated entirely to children and their families."
