Neno is a character on Takalani Sesame, the South African co-production of Sesame Street. Neno closely resembles his American counterpart, Elmo.
For the relaunch of Takalani Sesame in 2020, Neno was renamed to Elmo. In a 2022 interview on Morning Live, Zuzu stated "Neno" is a nickname for Elmo.

Neno is an eternal innocent who loves to play. He is energetic, enthusiastic and consistent. At three years old, he struggles to keep up with the older characters, but insists on taking on the same challenges even when these are beyond his abilities. He loves to help others and to participate in all the activities in the community.
