The New York City Ballet is a ballet company founded in 1948 by choreographer George Balanchine and Lincoln Kirstein from existing smaller troupes within New York City.

In episode 3851 of Sesame Street featured a sequence of the New York City Ballet, in a dance mirroring dance moves displayed earlier by Zoe.

Individual members of the Ballet who have appeared on Sesame Street include Jock Soto, Lourdes López, and Suzanne Farrell.

Bryant Young, who performs the back half of Mr. Snuffleupagus was a member of the Ballet.

Dancers Kristen Segin, Alina Dronova, Callie Bachman, and Sara Adams appeared in a People in Your Neighborhood segment in Season 43 (2012-2013).
