- The Muppet Show writer Don Hinkley was born in Richmond, North Carolina.
- Wilmington, North Carolina was used as a filming location in Muppets from Space and The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland. In the latter, a studio in Wilmington portrayed Sesame Street.
- According to Farscape: The Illustrated Companion, John Crichton (the main character of Farscape) was born in North Carolina. However, in the first issue of BOOM! Studios' Farscape comic series, Crichton tells Pilot that he was born in Memphis.
- Charlotte, NC is home to HeroesCon, a convention for which Roger Langridge provided an exclusive variant cover for The Muppet Show Comic Book #1, as well as his own parody of Doctor Who featuring the Muppets for the convention booklet.
- In the Muppet Babies coloring book, Muppet Babies Visit the Fifty States, Baby Kermit and Baby Fozzie stand in for the Wright Brothers and their famous flight in North Carolina.
- In a Twitter posting on July 1, 2010, Cookie Monster tweeted that he heard the world's largest cookie, weighing 37,000 pounds, was made in North Carolina, and he was going to book a flight there. [1]
