Norway is a European country and is the second largest of the Nordic countries. Norway borders Sweden in the east, while in the north it borders Finland and Russia.
Norway received its own co-production of Sesame Street, Sesam Stasjon in 1991. Airing on NRK, the show ended production in 2001 but remained on the air in reruns until 2004.
References[]
- An indirect reference was made in The Muppet Show Episode 524 where Kermit introduced the Viking number In the Navy by calling the Vikings "cruel, heartless Scandinavian marauders." While Vikings came from Norway and Denmark as well, the joke's punchline emphasizes the reaction of the show's transplant from Sweden, the Swedish Chef.
- Norse mythology was referenced by the Muppets through the "Thor, God of Thunder" sketches on Muppets Tonight (no relation to the Marvel iterations of same).
Dubs[]
Only productions aimed at young children are typically dubbed in Norway. The Muppet Show, Dinosaurs, and other Henson productions aimed more specifically at an older audience have never been dubbed, but instead have been shown with Norwegian subtitles.
Dubs of Muppet/Henson productions include the following:
- Bernt og Erling pรฅ nye eventyr (Bert and Ernie's Great Adventures)
- Bjรธrnen i det Store Blรฅ Huset (Bear in the Big Blue House)
- En Muppet Julefortelling (The Muppet Christmas Carol)
- Fragglene (Fraggle Rock)
