Nutty Bird appeared along with his cohort Sour Bird in commercials for Royal Crown Cola in 1966. A live-hand character, the excitable Nutty Bird would continually tout the benefits of RC Cola. Elements of the character's design and color scheme were later incorporated into Big Bird.
