Old YukDonald is the protagonist of the story, "The Grouches Who Lost All Their Pickles," as read by Oscar the Grouch in Episode 2863 of Sesame Street.
He is the proprietor of a farm, popular with other Grouches for the cucumbers he grows, which they turn into a Grouch's favorite food - pickles. While on a trip to the city, he meets a huckster peddling a candy-making machine, which happens to produce a lot of smoke while doing so. YukDonald is intrigued by the smoke and buys the machine when he learns it can turn pickles into pickle candy.
Once he brings it back to the farm, he and his fellow Grouches put it to use. The smoke pollutes the skies so much, it blocks out the sun and drives away all YukDonald's neighbors, livestock, and vegetation, including their precious cucumbers. He instructs the others to deactivate the machine, which helps clear away the smoke. Everyone and everything returns to the farm, including the cucumbers. YukDonald and his compatriots proceed to dispose of the machine for good.
