Paddington Bear is the star of a series of British children's books which began in 1958, written by Michael Bond, and several media adaptations. An invariably polite bear with a penchant for marmalade sandwiches and very hard stares, Paddington emigrated from Darkest Peru to England (where he was named after Paddington Station) and taken in by the Brown family.
The books inspired several TV adaptations, beginning with a 1979 Film Fair series (in which a doll-like stop-motion Paddington is surrounded by cut-out settings and people) as well as a shorter-lived Hanna-Barbera series and one produced by Cinar. The bear also starred in the films Paddington (2014) and Paddington 2 (2017), as well as stage plays, radio dramatizations, and records.
