The Page Rememberer is invented by Dr. Nobel Price in Sesame Street Episode 1941. Actually the second of three incarnations with the same name, this "new improved" version is the most mechanical, resembling a phonograph with an oversized wind-up key.
Using tubing with a magnifying glass attached, the Page Rememberer is placed on the page of any book. Once replaced, and the apparatus wound, the machine noisily uses "Stars and Stripes Forever," alarm noises, and a mechanized voice repeating the page number as reminders. The machine also displays the number visually. The excessive noise, and lack of a practical off switch, rendered this model impractical for public library use.
