The Palace Theatre.
The Palace Theatre is a Broadway theater that opened in 1913 and became a popular theater for performers and Broadway shows. A common phrase, "play the Palace," was used to describe the height of a performer's popularity. Among the musicals that have had residence there include Man of La Mancha, Beauty and the Beast the 2009 revival of West Side Story.

- In episode 105 of The Muppet Show, Fozzie Bear states during his comedy act that he's "good enough to play the Palace." Statler and Waldorf add that he's not even good enough to clean it.
- In episode 423 of The Muppet Show, after the closing number set in a palace, Kermit remarks, "It's been wonderful playing the Palace."
- The Palace is incorporated into the set of Manhattan Melodies during the "Together Again" number in The Muppets Take Manhattan.
- In Big Bird in Japan, during the song "Going to Kyoto," the young Japanese woman tells Big Bird and Barkley that among the sights in Kyoto is the Imperial Palace. Big Bird remarks he's always wanted to play at the Palace.
