Panospapadopulos

Panos Papadopulos in 1974

Panos Papadopulos (1920-2001) was a Greek actor who spent his career in Germany and dubbed Marvin Suggs on Die Muppet Show (The Muppet Show) and in Muppet Movie (The Muppet Movie).

Papadopulos made his film debut as a musician in 1949's Hallo, Fräulein! shot in Bavaria. He spent most of his career in Munich, however, as an active character actor in radio, television, and dubbing as well. Papadopulos was usually cast in ethnic roles, playing his native Greek as well as Italians, Spaniards and Mexicans, Armenians, Bulgarians, and others. He played a Mexican bandit in For a Few Dollars More, an Italian on Father Brown, various ethnicities on Tatort, a Greek cafe owner in Otto - Der Filme (with Otto Waalkes), and a Greek bartender in the English-language Billy Wilder film Fedora (with Peter Capell).

This typecasting extended to dubbing, lending his voice to Bela Lugosi in The Wolfman, Burt Kwouk in Marrakesh and Lost Command, Duncan Renaldo in Zorro Rides Again, and Edouard DeSoto on an episode of Law & Order.
