Per-Arne Ehlin, ca. 1970s
Per-Arne Ehlin (1942-2021) was a Swedish producer and director, primarily working in children's programming and dubbing, usually for SVT. He was involved with the Swedish adaptation of Sesame Street from the start in 1976, producing and directing the dub Sesam. He also produced and wrote dialogue for the tie-in albums and filled the same dubbing functions on Svenska Sesam, the 1981 full Swedish co-production. He translated and adapted lyrics for many of the songs, including "Rubber Duckie" ("Gummianka").
Continuing his work for SVT, Ehlin adapted and directed the broadcaster's dub of The Christmas Toy as Leksakernas julafton in 1988. He remained involved in later Sesame Street dubs, translating Bert och Ernie på äventyr (Bert and Ernie's Great Adventures) and the Swedish dub of Super Grover 2.0.
Ehlin began his career in the 1960s, producing and directing the children's short Sprejp and later sequels, while also working as first assistant cameraman on the 1966 film comedy Myten (with Per Myrberg). He subsequently wrote and directed the 1973 comedy Håll alla dörrar öppna (with Carl Billquist) and acted occasionally, as a boarder in the 1976 version of Kafka's Metamorphosis (with Ernst Günther) and an episode of the children's series Katitzi. He remained busiest in dubbing, however, translating and directing Paddington Bear, the Danish animated feature Samson & Sally, the Mexican feature Katy Caterpillar, Don Bluth's All Dogs Go to Heaven, and the first two Wallace & Gromit featurettes. One of his later projects was dubbing Bob the Builder.
