Peterbonerz

Peter Bonerz (b. 1938) is an actor and television director best known for playing Dr. Jerry Robinson on The Bob Newhart Show. He was heard in the Dinosaurs episode "Family Challenge" as the Insurance Agent. He previously lent his voice to a Sesame Street cartoon insert by John Korty, as a little man who stubs his toe on a typewriter (First: Episode 0506).[1]

Bonerz was a member of the San Francisco improvisational comedy group The Committee. He had a handful of sixties TV appearances (including The Addams Family) and made his film debut in 1967's Funnyman (directed by Korty and written by him and Bonerz), essentially playing a version of himself. He was part of the ensemble cast of Paul Sills' Story Theatre on Broadway in 1970 (alongside Valerie Harper, Richard Schaal, and Richard Libertini).

While on The Bob Newhart Show, Bonerz began directing and also directed episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Archie Bunker's Place. Apart from a regular role on the TV version of 9 to 5 (replacing Jeffrey Tambor as boss Franklin Hart for one season), he mostly focused on directing, becoming one of the primary directors of Murphy Brown, Friends, and Home Improvement, as well as NewsRadio, Just Shoot Me!, and Soul Man. He still made sporadic acting appearances, playing Ed Weinberger in Man in the Moon (with Jim Carrey). His one movie as a director was Police Academy 6: City Under Siege.
