Cross' "Fable of Fat Fireman Foster"
Peter Cross (b. 1951) is a British illustrator who supplied art for multiple stories in The Sesame Street ABC Storybook: "A Poem by Cookie Monster," "The Fable of Fat Fireman Foster," "The Jolly Juggler," and "Grover Gets Under Things." The stories were reprinted in The Sesame Street Library and The Sesame Street Treasury series. He also contributed art to Sesame Street Magazine.
Cross supplied the cover art for the American book edition of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, including the familiar hitching thumb and the green mascot character. He illustrated Trouble for Trumpets, the Dudley Dormouse book series, and The Boys' Own Battle of Britain.
