Peter Jackson (b. 1961) is a New Zealand filmmaker known for directing The Lord of the Rings trlogy and the subsequent The Hobbit trilogy, as well as the documentary The Beatles: Get Back. Jackson guest-starred in The Muppets Mayhem episode "Eight Days a Week." Reflecting the fact that he was knighted in 2010, Dr. Teeth addresses him as Sir Peter Jackson. Jackson himself states it as his preference to Janice.
Jackson's initial films (written, directed, and usually produced by him) were heavy on splatter and gore, quirky black humor, and/or horror elements, and all relied heavily on physical effects. The first three were Bad Taste (with Jackson himself in the cast), the puppet film Meet the Feebles, and Braindead.
After shifting to the more dramatic and realistic Heavenly Creatures (with Kate Winslet), Jackson returned to humorous horror, in a more toned down fashion, in The Frighteners (with Michael J. Fox and John Astin). Jackson's first Lord of the Rings entry was released in 2001 and made prominent use of motion capture, particularly for Gollum (played by Andy Serkis in voice and motion performance). He showcased it again in his remake of King Kong (with Jack Black, plus Serkis as Kong) and in The Adventures of TinTin (with Jamie Bell).
