
Phyllis Katz is an actress and songwriter who wrote lyrics for five songs on the Dinosaurs album Big Songs, with music by Ray Colcord.
Katz has a background in improv comedy, as a member of the Groundlings (as a performer and later director and teacher). She appeared as a nurse in four episodes of M*A*S*H and was a regular on the nineties Showtime comedy Sherman Oaks, in addition to one-shot parts on Rhoda, Cheers, Frasier, and Grace Under Fire. Films include Cheech and Chong's Next Movie and Zombeavers.
Katz has been heard as a voice actress in Dr. Dolittle (as a non-Creature Shop goat) and episodes of Scooby-Doo and Darkwing Duck. As a songwriter, she has worked several times with Ray Colcord, including the theme songs for the sitcoms Scorch and Women in Jail as well as on her one-woman stage shows. Solo, Katz wrote short songs for Son of the Beach.
