The Pipe Organ belongs to Count von Count on Sesame Street. After being a featured prop and significant part of the Count's castle for several years, the pipe organ became a character in Season 33, joining the Count in the "Number of the Day" segments, as each individual pipe would open its eyes and sing according to its number. The odd numbers have male voices, and the even numbers have female voices.
The organ is made up of twenty pipes, the mouths of which feature minimalistic Muppet faces. Each face on the pipe mouths consist of colored eyelids and eyes on the upper lip, and working tongues on the lower lip. When the Count plays the scales on the keyboard, each key corresponds to an individualized character — voiced and manipulated by several Muppet performers — who sings out the next number counting up to the number of the day.
Performers for the organ include Fran Brill, Stephanie D'Abruzzo, Martin P. Robinson, David Rudman, and John Tartaglia.[1]
