The Plaza Hotel is a 20-story luxury hotel in Manhattan located on the southeast corner of Central Park. Built in 1907, the hotel has been featured in a number of films including Eloise at the Plaza (with Julie Andrews), Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (with Tim Curry), Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest, Arthur (with Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli), Crocodile Dundee, and many others.
The exterior of the building facing Grand Army Plaza was featured in The Muppets Take Manhattan for the scene where Miss Piggy spies on Kermit the Frog and Jenny after Kermit pitches Manhattan Melodies to Leonard Winesop. After Piggy is harassed by a trio of cat-callers, she returns to her job next door at Bergdorf Goodman.
In 1985, Kermit reported from the hotel for the CBS TV special Happy New Year, America with Al Jarreau.
On February 12, 1992, Donald Trump and his then-girlfriend Marla Maples welcomed the walkaround characters from Dinosaurs to the hotel (owned by Trump at the time), to promote the TV show in conjunction with Toy Fair.
Some of the celebrity appearances in the Shalom Sesame episode "Aleph-Bet Telethon" were recorded at the Plaza Hotel, which is acknowledged in the "Special Thanks" during the credits.
